For all phases of healing blood stasis and wind damp bi. Move Out the Flame is comprised of some of the all-stars of the herbal mediicne world for dealing with pain, injury, swelling, and or spasm . It can be used topically or internally for these situations. Frankinscence/Boswellia resin (Ru Xiang) and Myrrh resin (Mo Yao) are a tried and true pair for all phases of injury, and for most all causes of inflammation. Together they Invigorate Blood and Qi, Dispel Wind Damp, Stop Pain, and Generate Flesh. Tienchii ginseng root and rhizome (Tian Qi) Invigorates Blood, Stops Bleeding, Reduces Swelling and Stops Pain. It has a long history of use for swelling and pain due to all types of injuries. It also helps to stop bleeding without stagnating the blood.
Chinese Red Peony Root (Chi Shao) Invigorates and Cools the Blood, Stops Pain, Stops Spasm. Chinese Red Peony buffers the warming characteristics of the Frankincense, Corydalis Rhizome and Turmeric rhizome while helping to resolve heat generated by acute injury stasis. When combined with Licorice Root and Rhizome it is a version of the formula Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang, used for spasm and pain. Meadowsweet (Xiu Xian Ju) was the original source material for salycilic acid (eventually turned into asprin) , and has a long history of use for pain and inflammation. It gently clears heat while Invigorating the Blood. It has traditional use for Gout, Rheumatism, and Ulcers and for supporting the health of the stomach and intestines thus protecting the digestive system from the erosive nature of NSAIDs often used to treat pain, and to buffer the possibly irritating nature of Tian Chi, Ru Xiang, Mo Yao.
Corydalis Rhizome (Yan Hu Suo) is the premier herb for Relieving Blood Stasis and Pain. This herb will help relieve the pain of injury, and alleviates stagnation in all parts of the body.
Chinese Licorice Root and Rhizome (Gan Cao) harmonizes the formula and moderates and protects from the strong invigorating nature of the other herbs in the formula.
Overall this is a strong formula that can powerfully resolve patterns involving blood stagnation anywhere in the body ranging including but not limited to delayed painful menstruation, cardiovascular disease, acute or subacute injury from accidents or overuse. It is also appropriate for Wind Damp Impediment that has components of Blood Stagnation. . For long term use it is best combined with constitutional tonics to moderate it’s dispersing nature. This formula is contraindicated during pregnancy. Use with caution in Blood deficient patients, whom will benefit from the addition of formulas such as Four Substances (Si Wu Tang) or Augmented Four Substances (Tao Hong Si Wu Tang). For added pain relief for Kidney deficiency with Wind Damp Bi combine with Meridian Circulation (Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang).
