This Office Hours session focuses on Chinese medicine approaches to ADD/ADHD and complex emotional patterns across children and adults. Kan’s Lead Herbalist Darren Huckle, L.Ac., DAOM, begins with a clinical overview of ADD/ADHD subtypes and constitutional framing (starting at ~02:00), including inattentive, hyperactive, and combined presentations. He then walks through core pattern‑based formula strategies—such as heart‑spleen deficiency with (Kan formula names in italics-->) Gather Vitality, liver Qi stagnation and heat with Relaxed Wanderer and Calm Dragon, and liver yang rising with Gastrodia & Uncaria and Quiet Calm (starting at ~15:00).

The session expands into phlegm‑mist and kidney essence deficiency patterns, pediatric and developmental considerations, and sleep support (starting at ~30:00). In the latter half, practitioner Q&A deepens the discussion around trauma, emotional processing, developmental delay, and prioritization in complex, multi‑pattern cases, including the use of tonics, blood‑moving formulas, and long‑term constitutional support (starting at ~42:00). Throughout, theory is grounded in real‑world clinical decision‑making, lifestyle context, and nervous system regulation.
