Quick River (Xiao Huo Luo Dan) addresses obstruction of the channels and collaterals by Wind Cold Damp, Blood stasis and Phlegm. The alternate name for this formula, Invigorate the Collaterals (Xiao Huo Luo Dan), refers to the Blood-moving effect of Quick River, conferred by its content of Myrrh resin and Frankincense resin. Frankincense resin contains boswellic acids to relieve stagnation and move the Blood. Turmeric rhizome moves Blood and dispels stasis. Processed Sichuan aconite main root strongly warms the channels.
The formula is also designed to purge channels and vessels obstructed by Phlegm, allowing Blood to once again flow freely. Prepared Chinese arisaema rhizome relieves obstructions by dissolving Phlegm.
