Whereas in ancient times elixirs were eagerly sought to support longevity, today people possess a driving desire for immediate, boundless energy. This nutritive tonic charges the body with a lasting liveliness and power, satisfying the tireless quest in our culture for greater capacity, endurance and performance.
When the reserve of essential constituents is ample, and the body is not operating at a deficit, its natural defenses shield it. Herbs that supplement the ability of the organism to resist stress, recover from physical and mental exertion, perform work, procreate and support healing are called adaptogens. In the language of Chinese herbalism, adaptogenic herbs are those that activate Wei (defense functions), tonify Qi (vital energy), and replenish Jing (Essence). The combined outcome is to support and protect physical potency, mental acumen and spiritual poise.
Because these herbs equally nourish Yin and Yang, this tonic is beneficial for almost everyone. Lycium fruit and Aromatic Solomon’s seal rhizome feed Yin (Moisture, Blood, Essence), White Asian ginseng rhizome and Astragalus root support Yang (Qi and Shen) and Schisandra fruit integrates these actions. Although the formula is invigorating, it contains no stimulants like caffeine or Ephedra (Ma huang), and will not provoke a sudden rush of heat or surge of circulation. Its value is in building a sustained increase in vigor and alertness.
Altogether these herbs rejuvenate and harmonize the entire organism, enlivening awareness, supporting defenses and benefiting vital secretions. Move Mountains supports integrity, equanimity and pliancy − the ability to adjust to taxing demands while still maintaining equilibrium. It can be used as an all-purpose tonic.
Because Move Mountains is tasty and flavorful, it can be enjoyed as a beverage by mixing one or two squirts of the liquid extract in hot or carbonated water with a teaspoon of sweetened ginger syrup or a slice of lime.

White Asian ginseng root and rhizome fortifies the Original Qi, harmonizes the pulse, generates Moisture, strengthens the five viscera, gladdens the Spirit (Shen) and supports resilience and courage. It supports the organism’s capacity to regulate blood sugar, blood pressure and blood lipids. It supports normal cardiovascular function and supports stamina and endurance, yet it does not interfere with the normal quality and rhythm of sleep.
Astragalus root fortifies the Defensive Qi (Wei), lifts the pure Yang, secures Blood, invigorates the breath, strengthens the Spleen, Lung and Kidney and supports healthy fluid metabolism. Like White Asian ginseng root and rhizome, Astragalus root nurtures stamina and the capacity to adapt to stress.
Schisandra fruit generates and consolidates Moisture, supplements Moisture, enriches Kidney Yin, roots Lung Qi, soothes the Heart-Mind, benefits the brain and supports healthy function of the sex organs. It is used to allay occasional irritability and insomnia, support muscles, nerves, circulation, healthy blood sugar regulation and the organism’s ability to cope with stress.
Lycium fruit, commonly called wolfberries, nurtures Blood, replenishes Essence, benefits the Lung, strengthens the Kidney and Liver, moisturizes the skin and nourishes the eyes, supporting skin luster and vision. Lycium also supports a healthy nervous system.
Aromatic Solomon’s seal rhizome generates Moisture, alleviates Heat, quenches occasional thirst and replenishes the Yin of the Stomach. It also fortifies Qi (the capacity to work and generate energy) and ensures an abundance of internal juices, including sexual secretions.
