Stagnation of Qi, Moisture and Blood as well as the accumulation of Heat, Cold, Dampness, Damp Heat and Phlegm can transform into a kind of “mist”, a form of Phlegm, that can block the Upper Orifices (eyes, ears, nose, throat). Occasionally, when people become fatigued, their resistance may falter, which increases their susceptibility to External Invasion and environmental stressors that include dust, smoke and fumes. Discomforts such as an occasional irritated, eyes or ears, fuzzy thinking and dryness are often the result of Dryness. Heat and the accumulation of Phlegm in the Upper Burner, which may occasionally further increase one’s sensitivity to gases, fumes and naturally occurring pollens, molds and grasses.
Stagnation of Qi, Moisture and Blood in the Upper Burner, along with the accumulation of Phlegm, Dampness, Heat or Damp Heat may result in deficiencies of the Authentic (Zheng) and Defensive (Wei) Qi, which, in turn, can undermine the organ networks of the Spleen, Lung and Kidney.
Head Clear supports the Defensive Qi (Wei) by expelling External Wind, Heat and Cold and dispel Phlegm, while at the same time supporting the Stomach and Lung, two of the primary sources of healthy Qi.
RATIONALE
This formula is a synthesis of Ligusticum and Green Tea Powder (Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao San) and Mulberry Leaf and Chrysanthemum Soup (Sang Ju Yin), classical formulas from the 11th and 18th centuries respectively, whose primary objectives are to eliminate externally contracted Wind Heat and Wind Cold from the lung, nose, head and surface of the body, otherwise known as the defensive layer (Tai Yang and Wei Fen).
