It allows flexibility of use for the formula, ranging from supporting healthy skin to dispelling abdominal stagnation.
Dong quai root, White peony root and Sichuan lovage rhizome constitute most of the quintessential Blood tonic known as Four Substances (Si Wu Tang), and serve together to move Qi, and tonify and move Blood. Poria and Asian water plantain rhizome drain Damp accumulations from the middle and lower abdomen, White atractylodes rhizome warms and dries the Spleen to stop Damp formation and restore Blood and Essence.
